BOY!  Can they eat!!

We are on day 3 of summer vacation.  Not that I'm counting or anything, but I do look (and cook) to the not so distant future and wonder.  Where are we going to get the money to buy the food to feed these boys!  3 of them: 12 year old Alexander, 9 year old Dominic and 7 year old Ethan.  Now in Ethan's defense, he could live off peanut butter and be a happy camper, but the milk consumed by this little guy is unreal!  All of them really.  I should have a cow, well, buy a cow to be exact. :-)  So I went grocery shopping on Saturday. It was a marathon shopping day, because I went to two stores in an hour and a half.  Bought 4 gallons of milk, tons of vegetables and meat and chicken. No chips, no crackers, no juice...just the basics. I did not deviate from my list. I decided that Monday (today) I would cook enough to feed an army, at least my army of 3.  I started with the family pack of drumsticks all for $4.20.What a deal!  They are now skinned and marinating in the fridge. Next it was the pound of ground beef that I needed for the meatloaf.  You are probably thinking 1 pound, why not 2?  Because meat is expensive and once I add the veggies, it grows...recipe to follow.  Then, brown the short ribs (my grandma made these) to cook in the crock pot for dinner tomorrow and to put away in the freezer.  If I can continue cooking meals ahead to eat later, I might just make it through this summer and still have time to spend with my little men. Because that's what it's all about, right?

Eat Your Veggies! Meatloaf

1 pound ground beef
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup shredded zucchini
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 eggs
1 packet onion soup mix

Mix all and place in a glass loaf pan.  Bake in a preheated oven @ 350 for 45 minutes.

Yay!  Summer Vacation is here!  Now to get to those projects that I started last year, and maybe finish them this year.  Let's hope!  I'm finishing up the laundry room, Alexander's room and my dining room table, and the scrapbooking room!  I started labeling, sorting and organizing all of my stuff.  Baby steps...
labels...
and more labels.

And yet again...

Alright! I am not good at this blogging thing.  It's been a year since I posted anything.  I have been busy though; working, mothering, cleaning, cooking, organizing.  Now, Spring Break has arrived along with asthmatic bronchitis which makes my list of "to-do" much more difficult to do.  I will list the projects I have done soon,  the homemade cleaning products that have changed my life, and some of our family's favorite recipes.  See you soon!

Let's try again!

I am going to try this again! We'll see how it goes. I have so many projects I am working on right now and injured myself in the process. Did you know you can develop bursitis from painting? Repetitive motion! So I've been out of commission for 4 days, with my shoulder in a sling. I can type, though! My 11 year old son has been such a great help. I stripped...he stained some new feet for my couch. Then he began removing the wallpaper from his room. He is going into 6th grade you see, and a border depicting vehicles in bold primary colors just is not appropriate. Who knew?

Messy!  But a work in progress.

a little more progress...

We finally stripped all the wallpaper...well Alexander did!  It took a week and today the walls are clean, spackled and prepped for painting. I would have painted today, but the hubby reminded me of my previous injury, so I decided to stop for today.

We've decided to move his bed to the corner.  I removed the map and framing, but I will replace somewhere else.

I hope you enjoy viewing my projects and please let me know your opinion and suggestions!

Blessings,

Cybele

Coat Closets in So. Cal?

Ok, seriously! When you live in Southern California, you don't NEED a coat closet. Get real!  It should be called a "Hoodie" closet.  I need more storage for stuff and less for the coats...5 total, 1 per person. But when a title is given to a room or space, you feel compelled to maintain it's integrity and purpose. Pish Posh!!   When you enter the house through the garage, you are immediately greeted by two doors in a 5x5 foot area. You end up in front of a closet and next to the bathroom.  It's quite a tight spot.
This tiny closet that was "labeled" a coat closet, and so it was.
And a catchall for junk...

Coats, and Clutter and boardgames...oh my! oh and a set of curtain rods.

and of course handbags and lanyards.

All these games were hidden in the closet...

and all these coats.. (these are in the laundry room...I'll show you that later)

All cleaned out.  Hanging Rod Removed. New shelves installed and a fresh coat of paint!

Now the kids can get out a game when they want.  They are age order so my little guy can reach his Candy Land!
